We are living in a time where identities have been “blurred.”

The title of today’s message “blurred identities” was inspired by the idea behind the phrase “blurred lines.”  For those of you who are not familiar with the phrase “blurred lines” here is a simple definition of the idea that this phrase implies.

“Blurred lines” refers to a situation where the distinction between two different things is unclear, confusing, or overlapping. It suggests that boundaries have become mixed or less defined, making it hard to tell where one thing ends and another begins.

This described some of the believers in the church of Corinth and is very much descriptive of what we are seeing in our society today to a tee! “BLURRED IDENTITIES”!

The idea of being able to choose an “assumed identity” has led many people into an illusion of living under fictional identities.

Paul’s letters were aimed at reshaping the “blurred identity culture” that the believers at the church of Corinth had allowed themselves to be a part of.

In their decisions the church pretty much mirrored the behavior and lifestyle of the society in which they lived.

They were religiously diverse but Spiritually confused and this is the culture that we are seeing in many churches today. A culture of behavior shaping Identities that do not match the Spiritual identity as the Spiritual Son of God.

As we continue in our discussion in 1 Corinthians 6 my hope is that we are open to what the Spirit is revealing to us about “blurred identities”.
