This week in Sunday Fellowship we conclude our message on 1 Corinthians chapter 6.  Last week we discussed some of Paul’s most powerful, unbelievable, yet misunderstood statements. Here are some of the topics in last week’s message.

Who’s Judging Whom?  Who’s at Fault?  Surly Not Me!  1Co 6:1-6

        It is Not a Leadership Issue – It’s A Fellowship Issue!  1Cor 6:4-6

Defeated Before You Start: If You Do Not Start Right, You Do Not End Right 1Co 6:7-8

The Deception of Blurred and False Identities Revealed In Blurred and False Cultures!  1Co 6:9-10

If You Can Do Anything You Want – You Have a License To Sin, Right? 1Co 6:12

As you can see, we covered a lot of ground.  The Father provided a great deal of Spiritual insight and revelation on each of these topics. As our brother and Pastor Roger from Ghana said “this message was packed!”  If you didn’t have a chance to catch last Sunday’s message here’s the link:  https://youtube.com/live/Jjpfy9-NsFI

Lets talk about it…

This week in Sunday Fellowship we discuss 1 Corinthians chapter 6, where Apostle Paul makes many powerful, unbelievable, yet misunderstood statements. His letter continues to challenge the church concerning their Spiritual maturity!  According to Paul, in chapter one, this church, above all others, abounded in operating Spiritual gifts.

1Co 1:7 so that you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Despite all the gifts in full demonstration, they were a “flesh bound” body of believers! Many of them fell into Satan’s trap of living in their “original flesh identity,” using Spiritual gifts with the works of man-made religion. They were deceived, as many are today, that having signs, wonders and miracles demonstrates Spiritual maturity.  Sadly, gifts does not reveal that at all!

Spiritual gifts minister to the “outer man” only.  They provide comfort to the body and soul identity and needs! Let me be clear, because many still believe “Spiritual gifts,” including signs, wonders and miracles are for today.  I agree 100% with that assessment, but in no way do these gifts produce Spiritual maturity in those who use them!  Concerning the subject of Spiritual gifts – no gift has any eternal value, eternal life, and is void of any power to produce salvation or Spiritual birth.  Of course we must acknowledge the Holy Spirit can use the witness of these gifts to bring some to receive and believe on Christ for their salvation.

Paul will cover a lot of ground in this chapter dealing with many of the Corinthians still living in their original flesh identity.  They were a Spiritual immature body with lack of Spiritual identity! So, let’s talk about it…

1 Cor Ch 6 – Self-deception leads to Blurred Identities With Brenda Gray

We are living in a time where identities have been “blurred.”

The title of today’s message “blurred identities” was inspired by the idea behind the phrase “blurred lines.”  For those of you who are not familiar with the phrase “blurred lines” here is a simple definition of the idea that this phrase implies.

“Blurred lines” refers to a situation where the distinction between two different things is unclear, confusing, or overlapping. It suggests that boundaries have become mixed or less defined, making it hard to tell where one thing ends and another begins.

This described some of the believers in the church of Corinth and is very much descriptive of what we are seeing in our society today to a tee! “BLURRED IDENTITIES”!

The idea of being able to choose an “assumed identity” has led many people into an illusion of living under fictional identities.

Paul’s letters were aimed at reshaping the “blurred identity culture” that the believers at the church of Corinth had allowed themselves to be a part of.

In their decisions the church pretty much mirrored the behavior and lifestyle of the society in which they lived.

They were religiously diverse but Spiritually confused and this is the culture that we are seeing in many churches today. A culture of behavior shaping Identities that do not match the Spiritual identity as the Spiritual Son of God.

As we continue in our discussion in 1 Corinthians 6 my hope is that we are open to what the Spirit is revealing to us about “blurred identities”.

Paul shares the true gospel with the Corinthians. The Corinthians were involved with regularly living in their Original Natural Flesh Identity. They regularly were making FLESHLY DECISIONS where all those FLESHLY DECISIONS led them into having SINNING BODIES!

When we are Spirit-birthed as a Spiritual Son of the Father, we received a New Spiritual Son Identity with New Creation Spiritual Life and with the Divine Nature. We are to make Spiritual Son Identity decisions in all that we are a part of that will obey our Father and bring glory to His Name!

Let us also look at ALL the SPECIFIC THINGS that Paul discusses to correct the Corinthians in their FLESHLY DECISIONS. We can learn from Paul how to operate in our Spirit Son Identity with Spiritual decisions!
