The message this week we will talk about “death of identity”. The death of our identity in 2019 is exchanged for a new 2020 identity!
Paul tells us in Romans 6:4 “that we were therefore buried with him through baptism into death”, and in Romans 6:8 “Now if we died”. Without question, the work of the cross is final and finished.
So why am I haunted by the King James Version of Paul’s words to the Galatians in 2:20: “I am crucified with Christ”. Everything about Galatians 2:20 in the KJV translation states an ongoing reality and realization of death, yet in many other translations it is worded “I have been”. I have questioned those two verb tense translations in Galatians 2:20 for years – so which one is correct? The answer is ….. Both.
The reality of the cross is an ongoing revelation that is essential to the renewing of our minds. The revelation of the cross and what it has done to us is essential in understanding our new creation spiritual identity. I am starting a three-part series this Sunday that will continue in late January titled The Death of Identity. It will push the boundaries of what we have been taught our whole lives. What I say will be thought-provoking.

Our message this week will cover the “things of God”. What are they? For many, many years I’ve heard the term “things of God” used by almost everyone. And most, if not all of the times the words “things of God” are used they are used from a religious paradigm. Just to be clear, every one of us live in a “paradigm”. So, when someone uses the term “things of God,” for the most part we are hearing it in the context of some religious paradigm. Those words are rooted and grounded in organizational theology, institutional doctrines and denominational beliefs which define “things of God” as subjective.Let’s talk about it…

Paul tells us in Galatians 2:20 that I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live: yet not I…
Who and what died on that cross with Christ? We can all answer I did – Me. Yet, you still live. That disconnect lives in the mind of every Christian today because living in the ‘Me and Jesus – two-person gospel’ never allows a spiritual understanding of what Paul is saying. If we cannot understand who and what was crucified with Christ, then we cannot understand who now lives. The old never passes away, and the new never arrives. Religion has just made it all too complicated to understand. I’m dead, I live, yet I don’t and now Christ lives in me. In silent frustration, every Christian just shakes their head and returns to a life of fear, failure and guilt; but the answer is simple, you just do not know who you are. This is the very issue I want to address. Remember this – the son shall set you free.
